Capay Augmented Patrol (CAP) Program

Under the authority of the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office Field Operations Division, the Capay Augmented Patrol (CAP) Program provides residents of the Capay Valley and the Cache Creek Casino area with a dedicated, highly trained law enforcement presence 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. CAP deputies focus exclusively on this area, while other patrol deputies also cover the CAP territory as part of their broader county responsibilities.

The program is made possible through the full financial support of the Rumsey Indian Rancheria Tribal Leaders, who have funded the CAP Program entirely since its inception. As the casino facilities have grown, the CAP Program has expanded in coordination with the Tribe to meet the increasing calls for service, ensuring the community receives responsive and specialized policing.

CAP represents a successful, longstanding partnership between the Rumsey Indian Rancheria and the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office. The program’s effectiveness is reflected in positive community feedback, strong public acceptance, and measurable improvements in public safety. This collaborative model is unique within California, showcasing a level of cooperation and community engagement unprecedented in the county’s history.

Through CAP, the Sheriff’s Office continues to provide enhanced public safety, community-focused policing, and a model of partnership that strengthens trust and cooperation throughout the Capay Valley.
