Captain Don Harmon began his law enforcement career with the Wheatland Police Department in 1995, following his service in the United States Navy and completion of the POST Academy. He joined the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office in 1997, where he served in a variety of assignments, including Jail Deputy, Clarksburg Resident Deputy, Field Training Officer, and Investigator. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2015 and to Lieutenant in 2022.

Captain Harmon played a key role in developing and implementing the agency’s Drone Program. His dedication and service have been recognized with several honors, including a Certificate of Valor from the Attorney General’s Office in 2005 and Field Operations Employee of the Month in 2006.

Don and his wife, Julie, have four children, 4 grandchildren and the fifth on the way.  In his spare time, Don enjoys traveling with his family and playing an occasional round of golf.
