
Jail Commander Captain Juan Ceja began his career with the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office as a reserve deputy after serving in the United States Air Force. Juan has worked various assignments in the Detention, Field Operations, and Administration Divisions, to include specialty positions in the Investigations Unit, Marine Patrol Unit, Off-Highway Vehicle Team, Crisis Negotiations Team, and as a public information officer. Juan was promoted to sergeant in 2019 and lieutenant in 2021.
Over the years, Juan has received several letters of appreciation from community members and other law enforcement agencies. In 2018, Juan was part of the Investigations Unit named “Team of the Year.” In 2021, Juan was selected by his peers as the “Sworn Manager of the Year.” Juan has attended the FBI National Academy and holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Management and a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership. Juan believes in lifelong learning and strives to be a fair and inclusive leader.
